Catherine Ford is a British actress who was born in Bloomsbury. After her father left the family members, she was grew up by her mother, godparents, and grandmother. As a young girl, she struggled with obsessive-compulsive disorder, and also suffered from anxiety due to the word"association. Ford started to become fascinated by acting as a teenager and joined the National Youth Theatre. She was accepted into Sylvia Young Theatre School but after a week, she decided that she was not a fit. Ford returned to Central School of Speech and Drama and on her fourth application she was eventually admitted. Shaun Dingwall played Pete Tyler on Doctor Who. Ford was not able to complete her degree in 1993. But, by 1991, Ford had made her first appearance on TV on the show Surgical Spirit. At that point, Ford adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Tate was seen in television programmes like The Bill, Men Behaving Badly, and London's Burning in the Nineties. Tate also performed regularly at the theater, ultimately becoming a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company for its 2000-2001 season. Tate's stand-up humor, which she began adding to her set in 1996, soon gained the attention of her peers.
